Grocery Savings

January 30th, 2011 at 05:21 pm

I have been updating my coupon savings this month and as of today my total grocery coupon savings is $154.75.

This is only on grocery items! My dh and I do shop for sale items on household and entertainment needs.
We try to curb our spending as much as we can. Dh has a collection that he is constantly adding to and sometimes he does over spend in that category but we are working on it.

How much do you save every month by using coupons?

My coupon savings aren't even close to yours. I would say a good month would be saving around $15 in coupons. My biggest frustration with coupons is having to buy two or more of things. Our local grocery store gave me a coupon to save $1.50 on 4 boxes of Cheerios. That might work if we had a family eating boxes and boxes of cereal. I'm the only one who eats Cheerios and storing 4 boxes can be a challenge.

I keep my coupons in a small file box too.Smile
I put dividers with tabs to keep it organized. My categories are baking, beverages, canned goods, cereal, dairy, cleaning supplies, condiments, frozen foods, laundry needs, health and beauty, paper/plastic, pasta/rice, snacks, and miscellaneous.

It usually takes me about 10 minutes to look through them before I go to the grocery store. I make a shopping list and use coupons only for the items I will actually use. Last night I saved $7.55 with coupons at the grocery store. I thinks that is a good return for 10 minutes of work.Smile
